Location: Thessaloniki Greece
Let me be your host and follow me through history, in the most unknown chapter of the history of my hometown. In a city which lost the most vivant part of its population during the German Occupation, you will have the opportunity to visit its most vivant places, learn a lot about a large jewish community, and why not, meet people or even taste unique flavors. Many people return to search their roots. You will see from Turkish baths (hamams) to synagogues, from commercial passages to fruit markets, you will enjoy a private guiding in the Jewish museum and visit the Shoah monument. Strolling through the heart of the city, you will be able to enjoy its seafront, its Othoman and Byzantine remnants. The tour will continue with private/rent cars or taxis. You will be able to visit the train station where all 50000 Jews were expelled, the modern jewish cemetery, a nice panorama from the upper city, the unique Donme mosque, a drive through the reachest area of pre war Thessaloniki with its Jewish owned villas. Even a haunted mansion is there to tell its story. End up in a typical fish tavern, one of the best in the city to close your day! The tour can be realized in an opposite order according to time chosen, or to certain circumstances. Guiding in Ladino language is possible too
