About me
I have been a tourist guide for much of my life, from the time the first large jets started to arrive on our shores. Forty-two years later I am still involved in pointing the tourist in the right direction. Living in the centre of this vast province I can direct you to the places of interest from the wild life in the Kalahari to the wild flowers in Namaqualand. Historical trips to the "Big Hole" in Kimberley where diamonds were discovered to the Anglo- Boer war battlefields of Magerfontein, every desire is covered in this part of South Africa.
Why I love my local area
I always get a smile from guests once they learn that “Grootdrink” means Large Drink and although this has nothing to do with human drinking habits our local wine cellars continues to make award winning wines. The area is a farming region along the largest river, the Orange River. This means there are good fishing spots along the banks as well as the possibility of canoe trips. The local hospitality is the best feature of the region and despite most people being Afrikaans speakers, they will try their best to communicate with visitors.
