About me
Christian Williams has been a freelance travel writer since 1997 and has written or co-written some twenty guidebooks and a host of related articles for magazines, travel websites and UK newspapers. In North America he has covered western Canada and Colorado; while in Europe he has focused mainly on Germany, Austria, Tenerife and Scotland.
Why I love my local area
I grew up in Germany, lived most of my life in Scotland and am now largely based in Canada, but split my time between all three when not on research trips.
In Germany the buzz of Berlin always sucks me in while the sunny upbeat southwestern Black Forest is hard to beat.
In Scotland I enjoy happening Edinburgh with its many personas and its ease of access to the great outdoors.
Canada I love for its epic skiing and mountain biking, the wide-open spaces and sense of wilderness.
