About Me

I was born in Mannheim, close to Frankfurt in the southwest of Germany. But I never felt quite home in the south and never got a hang of the dialect. I always felt more like a "Nordlicht" (northern light). Therefore, with the beginning of my studies of sociology I moved to Hamburg, to become a real "Fischkopf"/fishhead and never regretted it since.
I travelled a lot in Asia, studied a semester in downunder, spend some time in Amsterdam, but always loved to come back to good old Hamburg. In my opinion it is the best city to live in Germany.


Why Hamburg?
- Because Hamburg´s weather is always fantastic.
Or at least people enjoy every sun ray they can get hold of. I love the cafes with the cosy blankets, so that you even can sit outdoors when it is already freezing. Hamburg people really appreciate the sun.

- Because Hamburg is a world metropole
Or at least there is a lot of fun stuff going on in all the small close-by neighbourhoods called Schanze, Karoviertel, St.Pauli and Ottensen that all have their own village charm. So you don't have to move around a lot to have some entertainment.This really serves my laziness.

- Because Hamburg people are overwhelming friendly
Or at least they are always quite polite with a tendency to the understatement. You for sure don't make bogus buddies here.
But hey, if someone from Hamburg gets real enthusiastic, that's something you shouldn't miss.

- Because Hamburg has a beach
Or at least there is a lot of sand at the river Elbe. And the Elbe even has tides! I love beach life, even when it's a kind of faked one.
