I am a British Graphic Designer, photographer and software trainer living in Dubai. I have been lived here for four years now.
I live in a high floor apartment at Jumeirah Beach Residence in Dubai Marina, the largest beach residence in the world. I am passionate about the city and the United Arab Emirates and about the middle East in general. My hobbies include Taekwondo, riding my motorbike and having fun with friends.
Dubai is an odd place, it seems to attract a lot of negative press from the Western world, some say because of jealousy over the dramatic and speedy success that the city has achieved over the last few years, being transformed from a sleepy desert village where pearl diving was the main trade to the bustling modern metropolis that it is today, complete with indoor Ski domes, the worlds tallest building and the worlds richest horse race. Dubai these days, is more like New York or London, whilst still retaining its culture and traditions and respect for Islam. The pace of life here has slowed somewhat since the economic crisis hit the city and a lot of expats left for their home countries.
Rarely do you find a city in the world where so many different people from so many different cultures and countries come together in one place. I can show you the real Dubai - interesting little art galleries, flea markets and souqs, free beaches, great places to eat and drink. Get in touch and I will share with you all the things that makes this a great place to be.
The opening of the world's tallest building in Dubai
The Burj Dubai, the worlds tallest building, opened just last week and is now taking tourists up to it's scary heights. Construction began on 21 September 2004 and was inaugurated 4 of January 2010 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum - ruler of Dubai.
